The latest version of the WhatsApp Messenger app now available for
downoad on Google Play includes the much discussed WhatsApp Calling
feature activated by default. Users no longer will need to receive a
WhatsApp call from a friend to have the feature activated.
Describing what's new in the app, WhatsApp's Google Play page
says, "WhatsApp Calling: Call your friends and family using WhatsApp
for free, even if they're in another country. WhatsApp calls use your
phone's Internet connection rather than your cellular plan's voice
minutes. Data charges may apply"
Until now, the feature was invite-only and saw a limited rollout. Although there have been reports that the feature is working with the previous version of the app, it is suggested that you update the app to get the call tab.
